The main story, "The Prairie Pirate," follows Gabby Hayes as he confronts a vicious bull named Diablo that has been terrorizing the local ranches. After an initial dangerous encounter where Gabby must fight off the aggressive animal, he devises a plan to capture it using a mosquito buzzer device that distracts the bull long enough for him to trap it. The story culminates in a chaotic scene at a rawhide ball where the mosquito invasion disrupts the festivities, but Gabby's quick thinking with his mosquito buzzer invention ultimately saves the day and allows him to prevent further damage from the rampaging bull.
