Gabby Hayes and three companions survive a harrowing waterfall plunge and a rattler encounter, only to get strung up by a gang of rough hombres demanding they sign over a hundred simoleons. After a comedic struggle involving a rope, Gabby and his friends manage to escape. Later, bandits break out of jail using a pea-shooter, prompting Sheriff Denver to pursue them, but the outlaws elude his grasp. When an Indian scout reports the jailbreakers are hiding in Dead Canyon, Gabby devises a secret weapon—a print shop creation—to help recapture the criminals.

Gabby Hayes

Gabby Hayes finds himself caught up in the schemes of the outlaw Sidewinder Hogan when a young woman and boy stumble upon the bandit's hideout in the cliff dwellings. With little more than quick thinking, a can of grease, pebbles, and a water basin, Gabby must outwit the desperate criminals and the very real rattlesnakes infesting the cliffs to save his companions.

Gabby Hayes

When Gabby Hayes is tricked into modeling a dress at the general store, a photographer captures the moment—and a carnival owner spots the photo and becomes convinced he's found a fortune-making "bearded lady" attraction. Gabby tears after the photographer to destroy the snapshot, but the carnival owner and his hired help have other plans, leading to a wild chase through Rawhide involving taxidermied animals, mistaken identities, and a whole lot of consternation. It's a frontier romp where Gabby's reputation—and a certain photograph—hang in the balance.

Knowing a full group would be spotted, Mark volunteers to slip through the dangerous pass alone to warn the Army Post, while his companions race back to the settlement. As Mark navigates the treacherous terrain, he must outwit sentries and a sea of renegades to get the cavalry mobilized in time.

In this frontier tale, Gabby Hayes spins a yarn for two young brawlers about the proud tradition of western men protecting their women folk—from wagon train circles to gunfights with bandits and kidnappers. Through vivid recollections of Old West heroism across fire, flood, and stampede, the oldtimer illustrates how real cowboys stood up for the ladies with their lives, not their fists. A lesson in frontier chivalry that hits harder than any punch.
