In "Pen Pal Love Affair," a young woman named Ann becomes emotionally invested in letters from Tommy, a serviceman stationed in Korea, but when he finally returns and meets her in person, he treats her coldly. Ann later discovers that Tommy has fallen in love with someone else—a woman he met through a neighbor's correspondence—shattering her illusions about their connection. When Tommy departs again, Ann is left heartbroken, but her coworker Al suggests that by taking over Chuck's television repair business while he serves, Ann could build her own future and prove her worth to Chuck, who has always been a good friend to her.
