G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero: Rise of Serpentor #[nn]
In "Triple Play," the G.I. Joe team faces a crisis when a Pentagon investigation casts suspicion on their involvement in the Springfield attack, even as Cobra strikes at Ft. Wadsworth with a full-scale assault on the Pit. With the base under siege and explosives set to collapse it from within, Flint sends Lady Jaye to rally the remaining Joes, who must fight to defend the base from within while the Pit itself is destroyed—trapping the Commander and Destro beneath the rubble. Written by Larry Hama and illustrated by Rod Whigham, with inks by Andy Mushynsky, colors by George Roussos, and letters by Joe Rosen, the issue features a cover by Netho Diaz.

The Joe team undergoes an investigation for the Springfield attack by three top brass from the Pentagon alongside Hawk, Cobra infiltrates Ft. Wadsworth and launches an assault on the Pit. Flint has Lady Jaye go to the other Joes and warn them of the assault as Eels make it ashore. The Joe team defends the Pit on the outside from Cobra inside the motor pool that escapes, but the Pit is destroyed when explosives are set off, collapsing the Pit in on itself, trapping the Commander and Destro underneath. The surviving general then reinstates the Joes, telling Hawk his team is now a nomad unit.
