“Combat Naval”

In "Combat Naval," the G.I. Joes launch a daring maritime assault to rescue their reconnaissance team stranded on a Cobra-held island. As Storm Shadow falls to a deadly shot while aiding Snake-Eyes, Zartan—disguised as Ripcord—faces a crisis when his holographic disguise flickers unnaturally under medical treatment at the Pit, catching Doc’s attention. Meanwhile, the real Ripcord, unaware and drugged, is brought to Springfield Airport under the care of the Dreadnoks, who trust him completely. Written by Larry Hama and illustrated by Rod Whigham, with inks by Andy Mushynsky and colors by George Roussos, the issue’s cover by Mike Zeck captures the tension in a striking, dynamic scene.
