In G.I. Joe #2 (2011), Zartan leads Storm Shadow through a high-stakes infiltration, using deception to turn the Joes against each other as he impersonates them in real time. While Helix pieces together clues from the security station and doubts the identity of a figure she saw, Hawk presses forward in Washington D.C., hunting for intel amid a sudden Cobra ambush. The tension mounts as Zartan’s true motives unfold—culminating in a shocking act that leaves the team questioning who they can trust. Written by Chuck Dixon and illustrated by Javier Saltares, with inks by Christopher Ivy, colors by Romulo Fajardo Jr., and letters by Chris Mowry, the issue’s cover by Tom Feister captures the spy thriller’s edge.
