“Homecoming Part 1”

There's something deeply unsettling about this cover — a heavily armed Cobra soldier in full purple mask and goggles stands planted in front of an ordinary suburban home, a Cobra flag raised brazenly where a neighbor's flag might fly, while a cheerful garden gnome looks on, blissfully unaware. The contrast between that mundane neighborhood setting (complete with a family mailbox) and the intruder clutching a serious assault rifle makes the "Homecoming Part 1" premise immediately compelling. Cover pencils by Tim Seeley and inks by Clayton Brown deliver a scene that sets the stage for what promises to be a story where the battleground hits uncomfortably close to home.
