“Ghost Squadron”

Joe Kubert's cover for this November 1979 issue puts the Haunted Tank front and center, its massive green hull surging forward as crew members brace against the chaos of a fiery battlefield explosion behind them. Promising six savage battle stories, the issue spotlights the Haunted Tank in "Ghost Squadron" alongside a packed roster of tales — "The Rookie Spy," "Fugitive from Stalag XIV," "The Front Is Where You Stand," "A Foxhole Is a Coffin," and "The Shell That Won the War" — each teased in vivid inset panels along the right side of the cover. DC's Big War Book was delivering serious bang for a dollar in 1979, and this installment looks like a worthy addition to the series.
