The Haunted Tank faces its most harrowing aerial gauntlet yet in this January 1976 issue, as Joe Kubert's cover depicts a group of soldiers atop the M3 Stuart firing desperately into a swarm of Japanese fighter planes bearing down on them from all angles. Tracers streak across a smoke-filled sky while parachutes billow in the background, giving the whole scene a breathless, wide-open sense of danger. With Robert Kanigher and Sam Glanzman on the interior story "Souvenir from a Headhunter," this is DC's war comics line firing on all cylinders.
