“The Secret Message!”

In "The Secret Message!", Mel Mason, assistant to chief engineer James Cook at Borden Electronics, races to perfect the groundbreaking Borden Device—capable of transmitting full-color images by wire—while navigating tense phone calls from the Belmar lab. But back at the Lamar plant, Mel’s focus is tested by a mystery that’s far more personal than any circuit diagram. The story unfolds with crisp art by Ruth Thompson, whose sharp pencils and inks bring the 1946 tech thriller to life, while Henry Kiefer’s cover captures the tension with a striking, period-accurate design.

Mel Mason, assistant to chief engineer James Cook, of Borden Electronics, is feverishly working to iron out the details of the new Borden Device to transmit pictures in full color by wire. This work requires continual telephone contact with their laboratory at Belmar, fifty miles away. But in the main plant at Lamar, Mel is in for trouble that has little to do with electronics.
