Dave Johnson's cover for this thirteenth and final issue says everything without saying a word: Nick Fury's weathered, eye-patched face fills the frame, each scar mapped to a different theater of conflict — Indo-China, Vietnam, Cuba, Korea, Nicaragua, Laos, Iran, Iraq, Colombia — a lifetime of classified wars written directly onto the man himself. The red-stamped "CLASSIFIED" documents bleeding into the background reinforce just how much of Fury's history has been buried and redacted. Garth Ennis, Goran Parlov, and Lee Loughridge close out Fury MAX: My War Gone By with a cover that works as both portrait and biography, and it's a genuinely striking send-off to this grim, mature-readers series.
