A delightful slice of postwar cartoon fun from DC, this March 1949 issue of Funny Stuff spotlights the Dodo and the Frog in a charming marble-shooting standoff — the Frog, wearing a little hat and looking decidedly smug, has just spit a marble clean across the ring while the pink, tie-clad Dodo watches with wide-eyed alarm, a big "GULP!" saying it all. Otto Feuer's cover art captures that loose, rubbery animation-style energy that made funny-animal comics such a warm staple of the era. At 52 pages for a dime, this one packed plenty of laughs into every visit to the corner newsstand.
