Freckles and his friends help Mr. Bing find a job after he loses his employment, eventually learning he needs to travel to Ketchikan. A message arrives about an automatic water heater malfunction at a house, which Mr. Lashley believes could cause an explosion, leading Freckles to worry about Mr. Bing's safety. The boys help locate Mr. Bing on the trail, discovering he has found work and a new wife, with Freckles ultimately approving of the match and bidding him farewell as Mr. Bing departs with his bride.
