# Forbidden Worlds #70 This issue contains two stories. "Beyond the Reach of Time" follows a mysterious woman who appears to be an alien named Ekkto and offers two men, Lois and Alan, the chance to fulfill their deepest desires—Lois grants them wishes that transform their lives, but ultimately reveals she must leave Earth as her time is running out, leaving them forever changed by the encounter. The second story depicts a scientist named Falsom who discovers a mysterious piece of quartz with the power to disintegrate matter at the atomic level, leading to a dramatic demonstration before scientific authorities, though Falsom ultimately refuses to surrender the discovery to the government, fearing its dangerous applications.

When Alan and Lois Barset can't find summer lodging anywhere else in New Hampshire's mountains, they settle for a suspiciously cheap old house that's stood empty for 75 years—and a neighbor's grim warning that families always flee in terror. In "Beyond the Reach of Time!", Tom returns from war a changed man—polite to Madge but distant, his heart no longer with her. As the years pass and he remains ageless, a visit to Doctor Balsom unlocks a buried memory: a moment in wartime England, a love lost in the blast of a bomb, and a name—Gloria—long forgotten. When she finally appears, the past and present collide in a moment of reunion that will test the very fabric of time itself.

In "Doctor Falsom's Discovery!", a curious scientist’s experiment with a mysterious lump of quartz unleashes an unexpected power—making inorganic objects vanish. When his tests reveal the stone only affects non-living matter and can't be replicated, Falsom calls a scientific meeting, only to find his colleagues urging him to surrender it. As he flees home, a foreign spy closes in, and chaos erupts when two FBI agents arrive—just as the quartz shatters, splitting into two pieces that destroy each other.
