Foolkiller #5

The concluding issue of this 2017 Marvel series goes out with a darkly comic bang, as Dave Johnson's cover drops Foolkiller into a chaotic scrum of grotesque villains and masked figures — all while he brandishes a weapon literally labeled "Therapy Stick" and insists, via speech bubble, "I'm a psychiatrist, I'm here to help you!!!" It's a gloriously absurd image that captures the series' twisted sense of humor perfectly, with skull-faced goons, a red-masked brute, and a tangle of flailing limbs surrounding our beleaguered anti-hero. Johnson's gritty linework gives the whole mayhem a wonderfully grounded texture that makes the joke land even harder.
