FML #6

Things have clearly gone sideways in a big way — the cover of FML #6 from Dark Horse shows a nerdy young man in glasses being escorted in handcuffs by a female officer, while a massive, horned creature in a blue hoodie and sneakers gets the same treatment from another cop, all of them marched away against a suburban backdrop bathed in a warm orange sky. The contrast between the ordinary-looking guy and his enormous, otherworldly companion makes for a wonderfully absurd image that captures the series' offbeat tone perfectly. David López handles the art with assured, expressive linework that sells every ounce of the awkward, chaotic energy this creative team — including Kelly Sue DeConnick, Cris Peter, and Clayton Cowles — has been building toward.
