Flinch #6

Vertigo's horror anthology Flinch delivers another unsettling installment with issue #6 (November 1999), featuring a cover by Kent Williams that stops you cold: a cherubic, wide-eyed child seated among gravestones, cradling a human skull while shadowy clawed figures lurk at the edges of the darkness below. That deeply wrong juxtaposition of innocence and the macabre is exactly the kind of dread Flinch does so well. Inside, contributors William Messner-Loebs, Duncan Fegredo, Phil Hester, Ivan Velez Jr., and Ho Che Anderson bring multiple short horror tales to the table — including the ominously titled "Dead Woman Walking.
