“Deep-Sea Blitzkrieg”

"Deep-Sea Blitzkrieg" delivers a pulse-pounding underwater war tale from Bill Everett, who wrote, drew, and inked this gripping 1974 issue. When Hitler launches a surprise assault on Atlantis, the incapacitated emperor leaves Namor to lead his people in a desperate defense—using stealthy whale and shark ambushes, ice-covered gun emplacements, and sheer force of will. The cover by Alex Schomburg captures the chaos, but the real thrill lies in the story’s bold, unrelenting pace and the moment Namor turns the tide with nothing but his strength and fury.

Hitler decides to smash Atlantis, and in the first U-boat attack, the emperor is incapacitated and Namor assumes command. The Atlanteans fight back in "Trojan" whales and sharks that circle the Nazi subs without being noticed until their guns open up. The Nazi fleet is destroyed when Namor's people man gun emplacements on top of icebergs and rain down fiery death. Namor is captured by the lead sub, but Namor destroys the sub with his bare hands. He returns to his people who have finished rebuilding from the initial attack and ponders what to do next.
