This collection reprints the opening storyline from the 1982 Flash Gordon comic series, adapting the classic newspaper strip adventure where the hero and Dale Arden crash-land on the alien world of Mongo and confront Emperor Ming. The volume includes the complete 'On the Lost Continent of Mongo' arc, written and illustrated by Dan Barry, which expands on the original Alex Raymond material with new subplots and action sequences. It was published by Pinnacle Books as part of their short-lived line of color comic reprints in the early 1980s.
