Tied to DC's 1988 Invasion! crossover event, this issue drops the Flash into a tense jungle setting surrounded on all sides — armed soldiers crouch with rifles trained at him while two snarling alien creatures close in from behind, leaving the Scarlet Speedster looking decidedly outnumbered. Guest-starring Manhunter, as the cover proudly announces, the issue marks the start of "Invaded Lives, Part One" by the creative team of William Messner-Loebs, Greg LaRocque, and Larry Mahlstedt. Don Simpson's pencils and Mahlstedt's inks bring an urgency to the scene that makes this a satisfying snapshot of a hero caught squarely in the crossfire of an interplanetary conflict.
