Five Ghosts #13

Issue #13 of Image's Five Ghosts opens the "Monsters & Men" arc with a cover that sets an immediately gripping mood — a rugged, arrow-quiver-bearing adventurer clings to a rocky cliff face as a swarm of bats fills the dusky sky around him. Along the left edge, the five ghostly spirits — The Archer, The Wizard, The Detective, The Samurai, and The Vampire — are displayed like a haunting roster, reminding readers of the supernatural arsenal at the hero's disposal. Chris Mooneyham's linework (both pencils and inks) brings a pulpy, adventure-serial energy to the scene, while Lauren Affe's moody palette of purples and earth tones gives the whole thing a deliciously ominous atmosphere.
