Wo Tai's grandmother is the tyrannical empress Wu Tei-tien. Wo Tai is spending time in a small village where he has fallen in love with Ming-Chee, the daughter of a plain peasant. When news reaches Wo Tai that his brother and sister have been executed by Wu Tei-tien, Wo Tai stars a revolt. Wo Tai and Ming-Chee become the new Emperor and Empress.
