Fire Power #23

Chris Samnee's cover for Fire Power #23 puts the series' hero face-to-face — or rather, fist-to-jaws — with an enormous, coiling dragon, its glowing yellow eyes and gaping maw dominating nearly the entire frame while the young fighter hurls a swirling fireball straight at it. The scale contrast between the lone martial artist and the massive serpentine creature makes for a genuinely gripping image, rendered with Samnee's confident linework and lit beautifully by Matt Wilson's warm, dramatic colors. Robert Kirkman's Skybound series is firing on all cylinders in 2022, and this issue's cover alone makes a compelling case to jump on board.
