"The Giant Killers" follows Lieutenant Danny Mitchell and the patrol torpedo boat squadrons as they investigate smoke near an island during a routine patrol. After rescuing a sailor who struck a mine, Danny is granted a place on a fighter pilot strike against enemy shipping, where he scores hits alongside other pilots. When a mysterious unidentified aircraft appears and eludes pursuit, Danny volunteers to join a raiding crew being sent by submarine that night to locate and destroy the enemy's secret weapon base, with the mission to return within three nights or be given up for lost.
