This issue is an anthology containing multiple war stories. "The Soldier's Tools" explains the four essential items every G.I. must carry: his helmet for head protection, his rifle or submachine gun as his weapon, and his mess kit for dining. A main story features Marines in combat where a sergeant is struck down, initially believed dead from bullet impacts, but he survives a heart attack instead; the medics ultimately cannot save him. Another story involves Colonel Ginzing radioing for help when a liaison plane experiences trouble, with the pilot forced to make an emergency landing near a native village in hostile territory.
