Feral was launched in March 2024 by writer Tony Fleecs and artist Trish Forstner — the same creative team behind their breakout Image Comics series Stray Dogs (2021) — with additional art by Tone Rodriguez and colors by Brad Simpson. The series was conceived as a feline-perspective survival horror ongoing set in the same shared universe as Stray Dogs, escalating that title's Don Bluth-inflected horror aesthetic into full-on survival gore. Issue #10, released February 12, 2025, closed out a five-issue arc set almost entirely within the claustrophobic environment of the Cat Lady's rural shack, a deliberately contained escalation before the series moved into its third arc in a pet-supply superstore setting. The second arc's collected edition (Feral Vol. 2 TP) shipped March 12, 2025, meaning the single issue and its collection hit the market within weeks of each other.
