# The Fearless Cabrini "The Fearless Cabrini" recounts the remarkable life of Mother Frances Xavier Cabrini, an Italian missionary nun who arrived in New York to minister to impoverished Italian orphans despite warnings about the difficult conditions and dangers of the slums. Defying the objections of Archbishop Corrigan, who feared her work would foster non-Catholic antagonism, Cabrini established an orphanage in a cellar of an abandoned warehouse in the slums where she nearly lost her life to a gangster before a policeman's intervention saved her. The narrative chronicles her miraculous medical intercession, including a case at Columbus Hospital in Seattle where a patient recovered after four failed operations, leading to her beatification by Pope Pius XI in 1938 and canonization by Pope Pius XII in 1946, making her the first U.S. citizen to become a saint.
