Fear Itself: Spider-Man #1

Part of Marvel's 2011 Fear Itself crossover event, this opening chapter of the three-issue limited series sets an immediately unsettling tone. McKone's cover places Spider-Man at the center of a shattered, mosaic-like composition — surrounded by fragmented faces contorted in terror, wide-eyed panic, and bared teeth — with flecks of blood scattered across the broken pieces.
