Rob Guillory's agricultural horror series reaches its eighteenth chapter with a cover that sets an unsettling tone: two figures in hazmat suits and gas masks brace themselves against billowing clouds of smoke or spores, while an enormous mutant sunflower — its petals ablaze with orange and gold — looms menacingly above them. The title "Allergy Season" suddenly takes on a very different meaning when the threat in question is this monstrous. Colored with rich, smoky warmth by Jean-François Beaulieu, this Image Comics issue is a fine reminder that Guillory's vision of bioengineered agriculture gone wrong remains one of the more genuinely creative horror concepts on shelves in 2022.
