Fargo Kid #3
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis issue contains two stories. "First Photographer" recounts the historical 1853 expedition of daguerreotypist Solomon N. Carvalho, who accompanied Colonel John C. Frémont across the western mountains near the 38th parallel to document the dangerous journey through brutal winter conditions, treacherous terrain, and crossing the Colorado River, with Carvalho ultimately producing remarkable daguerreotypes despite the expedition's severe hardships. The second story, featuring the Fargo Kid, depicts the Kid and a companion encountering Indians while traveling through a valley; warned to avoid attention from a nearby Indian camp, they attempt to escape but face pursuit when the Indians discover their presence.
When a mysterious stranger refuses what seems like easy money—a simple payroll delivery—a rancher's friend reveals the truth: that man is the Fargo Kid, the fearless driver who single-handedly saved the Fargo Express from a ruthless gang of murderous highwaymen. Through flashbacks, we witness the Kid's harrowing battle against bandits, his narrow escape from a river, and his cunning tactics to track down the outlaws to their hideout. It's a tale of raw courage and quick thinking that earned him his legendary reputation across the frontier.
When a settler's reckless shot at an Indian scout triggers a chain of misunderstandings, the Fargo Kid finds himself guiding a wagon train through hostile territory—with war drums beating and an attack planned for sundown. Unarmed and outnumbered, he offers the only gambit that might save the settlers: a hand-to-hand duel with the tribe's fiercest warrior to prove his word. In this 1958 western, raw courage and quick thinking become the settlers' only hope of reaching the new territory alive.
A U.S. Marshal known as Iron Jeff Corby arrives in the Arizona town of Vineyard just as word spreads that Al Haddon—a dangerous convict who recently won a pardon—is headed toward town seeking revenge on Faro Smith, the man who testified against him years ago. When Faro turns up shot at a stagecoach stop and three suspects are brought in, Corby must use his wits to identify which one is the cunning Haddon before the outlaw can slip away.
