In his youth, Robin avoids his knightly duties to roam the forest, where Old Hugh secretly trains him in archery—though the boy can't yet bend the mighty bow. When brigands attack, Robin proves his skill by drawing the bow and driving them off. Back at home, his father faces a deadly joust against ruthless knights, forced to defend his honor. With a single, precise shot, Robin saves him from certain defeat—but his father scolds him for spending time with Old Hugh. Still, the boy wonders if one day he might wield the bow for a greater cause.
