In "I musvåkenes reir," the Fantomet investigates a mysterious gang of thieves known as the Vråkarna—menacing figures with a "V" branded on their foreheads who appear at disasters to prey on the vulnerable. Tracking their latest raid after a volcanic eruption, he sets a trap to be captured and infiltrate their hidden stronghold, where he confronts their local leader, V1, and works to dismantle their operation.
