Fantomen vaknar upp bunden som fånge hos André Junot. Tidigare hade Junot gett Fantomen en drog som fått honom att hallucinera och svimma. Junot berättar att han hittat en papyrusrulle som delvis bekräftade professor Prescotts teori om Charebhoteps två gravar. För att hitta mer information blev han ihop med Julie Prescott, men när hon upptäckte vad han höll på med dödade han henne. Nu har han hittat graven och professorns dagbok om den ursprungliga expeditionen. Alla tycktes drabbas av en förbannelse och dö. Userhat tvingade Prescott att läsa från en mystisk papyrus och lämnade honom att dö.
