Fantastic Four #12

The cover of this 2013 Marvel issue says it all: the Thing braces himself against what appear to be two enormous stone or mechanical limbs bearing down on him, his rocky frame straining under the pressure while the Human Torch blazes in a fiery burst behind him. Sue Storm and Mr. Fantastic are visible in the background, adding to the sense that the whole team is caught up in something much bigger than themselves. With Matt Fraction and Christopher Sebela on script and Mark Bagley's pencils delivering that dynamic, high-stakes energy, "Planet Future, Part 2" promises a genuinely gripping read.
