From Vertigo's Fairest comes this mature-readers spin on fairy tale mythology, with issue #33 teasing "Goldilocks and the Three (or More) Bears." Adam Hughes's cover pairs a green-tinted, military-clad Goldilocks — armed with an assault rifle and wearing a red-starred cap — with a looming, dark-furred bear peering down at her with unsettling red eyes, all against a wash of pink silhouetted weaponry. It's a striking, subversive reimagining that signals writer Bill Willingham and artist Meghan Hetrick are taking this particular fairy tale somewhere considerably more dangerous than porridge and napping.
