This November 2013 installment of Vertigo's Fairest brings the five-part "Return of the Maharaja" arc to its penultimate chapter with a cover by Adam Hughes that's hard to look away from — a determined young woman stands barefoot and battle-ready, clutching a bow amid a scatter of arrows that pierce the title's wooden medallion logo around her. Her expression carries real urgency, a flowing veil behind her adding a sense of wind and movement to the composition. Sean E. Williams and Stephen Sadowski lead the creative team on this mature-readers series that puts Fables' female cast firmly at the center of the action.
