Fables #139

Fables #139 brings a refreshingly musical note to Vertigo's long-running series of fairy-tale exiles, with a cover by Nimit Malavia that sets a warm, almost nostalgic tone. Four figures — including an anthropomorphic cat — are gathered together playing instruments: a drum, a harp, a flute, and a violin, while a trumpet floats overhead amid musical notes, the whole scene bathed in honeyed amber light. Bill Willingham and Steve Leialoha kick off "The Boys in the Band, Part 1 of 2," promising a story with a distinctly different rhythm than the usual Fables fare.
