Written by Judd Winick with art by Mike McKone and others, it features the team's first missions and the introduction of the Timebroker. This new printing re-presents the complete opening arc of the series that ran from 2001 to 2002.
"Down the Rabbit Hole" kicks off Exiles: The Complete Collection #1 with a pulse-pounding crossover that brings the Exiles face-to-face with Weapon X, a rogue team of time-jumping operatives with a shared mission. Writer Judd Winick and artist Mike McKone, with inks by Jon Holdredge and colors by Transparency Digital, deliver a high-stakes tale where Blink reunites with her old mentor Sabretooth from the Age of Apocalypse, while Nocturne grapples with a personal loss. As both teams battle Sentinels on a ruined Earth to rescue a powerful young boy named David Richards, the Tallus delivers a chilling twist—Blink and Sabretooth are told their mission isn’t to save him, but to kill him. Cover by Mike McKone and Mark McKenna sets the tone for a story that’s equal parts mystery and moral reckoning.
In "Down the Rabbit Hole," the Exiles are assembled by the Timebroker to mend fractures across the multiverse, beginning their first mission on a world where superhumans have been hunted to near extinction. There, they must rescue Charles Xavier—only to find him unhinged and consumed by a rage that threatens to unravel everything he once stood for.
In "Sins of the Father," the Exiles confront the twisted legacy of Charles Xavier with help from Forge, leading to a shocking choice that costs Magnus his life and calls into question everything they thought they knew. As Sunfire steps in to fill the void, the team is abruptly pulled into the Shi'ar Empire, where they find themselves caught in the trial of Phoenix.
In "Old Wounds, New Battles Part 1 of 2," the Exiles arrive in a fractured reality where Jean Grey, on the brink of becoming Phoenix, faces a trial that could decide the fate of the galaxy. With the Imperial Guard preparing to execute her, Blink and the team must choose sides—though their loyalty is tested when Mimic finds himself locked in combat with Wolverine, each fighting not just for survival, but for a truth they can't yet understand.
In "Up North and in the Green," Thunderbird connects with his alternate self, Shaman of Alpha Flight, as they prepare to face the Hulk in a clash of wills and powers. Meanwhile, Sabretooth and Deadpool—part of the rogue Exiles known as Weapon X—see their mission derailed by the main team, and Sabretooth is stunned to learn that Blink, the daughter he once raised in the Age of Apocalypse, may still be alive.
In "A World Apart Part One of Three," the Exiles land on a reality where Skrulls rule and super-powered beings are forced into deadly battles for sport. As Blink and Morph reach out to a hidden human resistance, the arrival of Galactus casts a shadow over the already volatile landscape.
In "A World Apart Part Two of Three," the Exiles race to devise a strategy as Galactus looms, leaving Earth abandoned by the Skrulls who’ve fled in panic. With humanity—long held as slaves—now suddenly the planet’s last defenders, the team must find a way to stand against an unstoppable force, even as the stakes grow beyond anything they’ve faced before.
In "A World Apart," the Exiles face Galactus on a Skrull-occupied Earth, where their desperate defense ends in sacrifice and sudden departure. Thunderbird is gravely wounded in the battle, and as the team blinks away, Sasquatch joins them—leaving T-Bird behind, while Nocturne’s pregnancy adds quiet weight to the chaos.
In "Play Date," the Exiles take a rare break from saving realities, and Morph finds an unexpected connection with Sunfire during a casual trip into town—where a quiet moment leads to a heartfelt conversation about identity and belonging.
In "Another Rooster in the Henhouse Part 1 of 2," the Exiles team up with Weapon X on a ruined Earth, where they confront Sentinels and rescue a powerful young boy named David Richards. Blink faces a tense reunion with her former mentor Sabretooth, while Nocturne grapples with a personal loss. As the teams prepare to jump, the Tallus delivers a chilling warning: Blink and Sabretooth are meant to kill David.
In "Another Rooster in the Henhouse," the Exiles and Weapon X face a brutal choice: eliminate a young boy named David Richards to ensure their next jump. When Sabretooth defies his old team to protect David, a tense standoff erupts—ending not in bloodshed, but in a fragile promise. With the future uncertain, Sabretooth vows to raise David on this broken world, shielding him from the fate he might otherwise inherit, while whispering to Blink that their paths will cross again.
In "I Cover the Waterfront Part One," the Exiles land in a reality where Dr. Doom’s Latveria stands on the brink of invasion by Namor, forcing the team to confront a battle that tests their loyalty and purpose. As Mimic grapples with memories of his own origins, the weight of identity hangs heavy amid the rising tide of conflict.
In "Wild Life Reserve," the Exiles confront a twisted alternate Earth where Curt Connors' lizard serum has transformed the west coast into a savage realm ruled by reptilian beings. With Blink and Mimic racing to stop Connors—now human but still poised to unleash a coastal nuke—this high-stakes mission forces them to navigate a world where the line between creator and monster has blurred.
In "So Lame: The Exiles in Mojoverse Part One," the team finds themselves stranded in the chaotic Mojoverse after besting Callisto. With Morph and Nocturne captured and TJ tortured into submission, the remaining Exiles must rally to free Longshot from Mojo’s prison—knowing his unique skills might be their only hope.
In "So Lame: The Exiles in Mojoverse Part Two," Morph is trapped in Mojo’s twisted entertainment empire, forced to perform on Mojo TV to spare Nocturne from torture, while TJ uses quick thinking to slip past Mojo’s bumbling guards and escape. With Longshot rescued and the team united, the Exiles stand against Mojo’s reign of absurdity—only for the Timebroker to intervene at the moment Morph prepares to strike, pulling them back into the timestream to continue their mission across the multiverse.
