In Exciting Comics #52 (1946), a 10-cent comic from Pines, aspiring torch singer Lily Belle takes a bold step when she decides to follow in the footsteps of the mysterious Miss Masque after her boyfriend Homer is framed for murder and kidnapped. With her heart set on proving his innocence, Lily steps into the unknown, only to find herself caught in the same web of danger. Lin Streeter handles both art and inks, while Alex Schomburg’s striking cover captures the tension of a story that’s equal parts romance and mystery.

Lily Belle, after coming north to the big city, wants badly to become a torch singer, but her boyfriend, Homer, tells her instead to marry him, and he'll provide for her. She refuses, and Homer is heartbroken. Homer is later kidnapped, and when his uncle, a wealthy businessman, is killed (by the kidnappers), he is blamed for it. Lilly decides to be like Miss Masque and investigate the crime -- and she, too, gets kidnapped.
