Lily Belle, after coming north to the big city, wants badly to become a torch singer, but her boyfriend, Homer, tells her instead to marry him, and he'll provide for her. She refuses, and Homer is heartbroken. Homer is later kidnapped, and when his uncle, a wealthy businessman, is killed (by the kidnappers), he is blamed for it. Lilly decides to be like Miss Masque and investigate the crime -- and she, too, gets kidnapped.
