“Someone Will Die For This”

Kicking off the three-part "Girls' School from Heck" storyline, this December 1990 issue puts the team in a decidedly unusual situation. Captain Britain stands confidently in his Union Jack costume at the center of Steve Lightle's cover, flanked by Meggan in green and a younger male teammate at lower left, while a visually overwhelmed young woman in a school uniform is surrounded by a crowd of smiling, eerie blue-tinted girls — all overshadowed by a massive, cool-toned face looming in the background. It's a wonderfully offbeat composition that captures Excalibur's signature blend of superhero action and quirky British charm.
