The new Excalibur series hits its second issue with a cover by Mahmud Asrar that crackles with urgency — Rogue, Gambit, Colossus, Jubilee, and a sword-wielding Betsy Braddock surge forward against a tide of grasping undead hands, a lighthouse looming dramatically behind them. Writer Tini Howard and artist Marcus To (with colors by Erick Arciniega) continue "Verse II: A Tower of Flowers," promising magic, mutants, and the atmospheric coastal mysticism the cover so vividly sets up. If this team assembled against whatever lurks in the dark is any indication, this 2020 revival is building something genuinely compelling.
