The series was written and edited by Brian Pulido with full art duties handled by Steven Hughes, the same creative tandem whose partnership had directly led to the founding of Chaos! Comics in 1993–1994 after their earlier Evil Ernie work at Eternity Comics. Pulido served as Chaos!'s president and drove a shared universe of horror characters; Revenge was the second Evil Ernie limited series the company published, expanding on the genocidal anti-hero's mythology while quietly introducing Purgatori to the Chaos! line. The issue was produced as a 40-page, full-color comic and shipped with three distinct cover configurations, reflecting Chaos!'s early experimentation with variant and premium editions — a hallmark of mid-1990s independent publishing strategy.
