Everything's Archie #89

The cover of Everything's Archie #89 tells its joke in three crisp panels, all penciled by Stan Goldberg: Veronica introduces Betty to a perfume called "Autumn Leaves," Archie catches a whiff and dramatically announces a "wild desire" — only to reveal he means a wild desire to do some raking, rake and leaf pile in hand. It's a perfectly timed gag that captures everything warm and cheerful about Riverdale's autumn season, right down to the falling leaves and Betty's exasperated expression. A fun 1980 slice of classic Archie humor at its most good-natured.
