Victor LaValle's post-apocalyptic series hits its third chapter with a cover that commands attention — a massive, glowing-eyed skull looms in fiery red over a ruined cityscape while a determined young girl with crossed arms stands her ground at center, flanked by a hooded kid with green hair and a pistol, a goggle-wearing companion with a slingshot, and a fourth figure just behind them. Ario Anindito's linework gives the whole ensemble a scrappy, defiant energy that feels perfectly suited to a story pitting resourceful young survivors against something much bigger than themselves. With Jo Mi-Gyeong on interior art and Brittany Peer's colors, BOOM! Studios continues delivering one of 2021's more visually striking sci-fi adventure series.
