Wide-eyed and clutching his blanket in bed, young Eugène stares up at a swirling cloud of chaotic figures and objects looming above him in the dark — a perfectly charming visual promise of the headaches (kopzorgen) to come. Jan Dirk Barreveld's clean, expressive linework and warm colors make this Dutch all-ages comic an immediately welcoming read. A fine introduction to what looks like a wonderfully fretful little hero.
