Ett fall för Canardo #7

Sokal's world-weary duck detective Canardo cuts a thoroughly unhurried figure on the cover of this 1992 Swedish-language album, sprawled across the deck of a speeding motorboat with a fishing rod, binoculars, and what appears to be a well-earned cold drink close at hand. The title Dödens ö — "Island of Death" — promises that this nautical leisure won't stay peaceful for long, and Benoît Sokal's expressive linework gives Canardo that perfect mix of gruff resignation and reluctant determination. A fine entry in the Ett fall för Canardo series for fans of noir adventure with a distinctly European sensibility.
