About this Collection

This fifth volume of Marvel's Essential Daredevil series collects issues from the late 1970s and early 1980s, featuring the Man Without Fear's adventures alongside allies like the Black Widow and Iron Man, as well as clashes with foes such as Kraven the Hunter and Namor the Sub-Mariner. The collection also delves into cosmic elements with the appearance of Thanos, Moondragon, and Mentor, expanding Daredevil's world beyond Hell's Kitchen. Presented in black-and-white on newsprint, this budget-friendly edition offers a substantial chunk of the character's Bronze Age history.

In "Stilt-Man Stalks the City!", Daredevil faces a new wave of threats as Kerwin J. Broderick unleashes a tide of villains upon the city, setting his sights on becoming King of San Francisco. With Moondragon's help, Daredevil navigates a crisis of perception—his restored sight, once a gift, now hinders his instincts in battle. Written by Steve Gerber and illustrated by Don Heck with inks by Sal Trapani, this 2010 Marvel issue features a striking cover by Gil Kane and Frank Giacoia.

Kerwin J. Broderick gloats of his part in sending a whole batch of new villains into DD's life and his plans to become King of San Francisco right before he shoots Moondragon and DD with a ray gun. DD takes Moondragon into a healing chamber but cannot see the colors he needs to work the controls. Moondragon restores his sight and DD heals her. As DD, Moondragon and the Widow battle the Dark Messiah, Ramrod and Angar, Daredevil discovers that his new found sight messes up his fighting abilities. He has Moondragon make him blind again, just as Broderick arrives with the monstrous Terrex.
