Empyre: X-Men #2

The second chapter of this four-part Empyre tie-in brings together two of mutantkind's most compelling characters: Magik, sword blazing in hand and battle-ready in her black-and-gold armor, and Angel, wings spread as he charges forward behind her through a rubble-strewn cityscape. Looming at the left is a massive, ominous plant-creature — the Cotati threat made viscerally real — rendered with striking menace in Stephen Segovia's cover art. Written by the three-person team of Gerry Duggan, Ben Percy, and Leah Williams, with interior art by Lucas Werneck and colors by Nolan Woodard, this issue promises the X-Men facing something genuinely wild at the intersection of mutant power and alien botanical horror.
