Issue sixty-seven of Richard Starkings and Axel Medellin's Elephantmen hits with visceral, pulp-science-fiction energy right from its striking cover. A massive, bloodied hippo-hybrid man dominates the foreground — slumped and battered in a suit and tie — while two alarmed women flank him: one brandishing a large firearm, the other recoiling with hands raised in shock. Subtitled "Amongst the Dead Men," this 2015 Image Comics entry makes clear that the series' blend of noir tension and genre spectacle is running at full throttle.
