Issue sixty-one of Image Comics' Elephantmen puts the massive, hippo-hybrid figure of Manny front and center, rendered in striking detail — his hulking frame clad in a jacket, jeans, and sneakers, fists clenched with an unmistakably brooding intensity. The team of Starkings, Medellin, Roshell, Comicraft, and Cook continues to deliver the series' signature blend of "pulp science fiction," and this cover alone radiates that gritty, street-level energy the book does so well. Sixty-one issues in, Elephantmen remains one of Image's most visually ambitious ongoing series.
